A wedding celebrant amongst us!

Posted: 10th September 2020

Hazel Terry is one of our loyal and valued members here at the Union, who can often be found sipping something delicious on the terrace or meeting pals in the cosy downstairs bar. When she’s not chatting to staff at the Club, she’s also a fitness instructor and a marriage celebrant.

To mark our new range of wedding options at the Union Club, we thought we would catch up with Hazel to find out about her role as a celebrant and what she offers. Perhaps if you’re considering the Club as a wedding venue, you might consider one of our members as your celebrant? Now there’s a Union in all senses of the word…

Take it away Hazel!

Hello! My name is Hazel Terry. I have been performing marriage ceremonies since 2017, and I love my job! I enjoy meeting new people and hearing each couple’s unique love story and creating fun and happy occasions for them and of course for everyone else involved on the day.

I am a fully trained Marriage Celebrant holding a CERT IV in celebrancy after qualifying at The Celebrants Training College Australia. Since my relocation back to London in 2019, I now perform wedding ceremonies for couples all across the UK.

With over 10 years’ experience working in events and hospitality (I was previously a wedding planner for both Intercontinental Hotel and Sydney Opera House!) I am not only confident in producing and hosting your beautiful wedding ceremony, but I also bring industry expertise and knowledge to assist with your most special day.

My local areas are London, Kent and East Sussex, but I am more than happy to travel to your perfect wedding ceremony location!

The Process in a nutshell

Find and confirm your chosen wedding venue, such as The Union ?

Once you have done this you can contact me to hold your chosen wedding date and I will work with you to create your personalised ceremony.

To be legally married in the UK you must book a time with your local registry office to complete your ‘Intent to Marry’. Once you have BOTH done this you can then book your signing day at a registry office of your choice – it does not have to be your local one.

The Celebrant led ceremony then takes place at your wedding venue, this does not include the legal formalities.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday 2020/21

All couples are different. Therefore, I provide a bespoke package to fit your requirements. My fee to perform as your marriage celebrant is £650.00, which is inclusive of:

  • Initial obligation free meeting via Zoom
  • Guidance on booking your Intent to Marry appointment;
  • Three private appointments including a rehearsal at a mutually suitable location or via zoom, including unlimited phone and email contact;
  • Preparation of an individual ceremony;
  • My travel to your ceremony location;
  • A printed copy of the written ceremony script, vows and any readings;
  • Coordinating and performing your ceremony on your wedding day;
  • Use of high-quality P.A system (if required and the venue does not supply one);
  • Provision of Presentation Marriage Certificate;
  • Information regarding ‘change of name’ after the ceremony and;
  • Lots of tips and tricks along the way!

Hazel is also offering a post lock-down special for couples who are finding it difficult to book a registrar for their chosen wedding date. This package applies for Monday to Thursday weddings too!
