August’s book is… Americanah, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The Guardian says this is a great story that will change the way you look at the world. The Times says it’s “important” – that can go either way – and The Independent called it “Alert, alive and gripping.”
We will make up our own minds on 9 August at 7.30pm. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
July’s book was Malcolm Lowry’s Under The Volcano. It may be one of the best books ever written – and the writing is fantastic, evocative and heart rending – but only one of us made it to the end. It seems we read books very differently in 2022 than in 1947, and it just couldn’t compete with all the distractions of modern life.
