Alex Zane presents Comedy at The Union Soho
Alex Zane (C4's Rude Tube and Balls of Steel, Sky Cinema, and recipient of a Christmas cake from Tom Cruise) introduces:
Jonny Pelham began performing at Newcastle Uni, rising quickly through student competitions before developing acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe shows, winning the Beyond the Fringe Herald Angel Award for 'Off Limits' ★★★★★ and double Chortle nominations for Best Show and Breakthrough Act. Jonny has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Russell Howard’s Stand-Up Central, and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. "The laughs are explosive" (Chortle). "Engagingly wry temperament and clear anecdotal gift" (The Scotsman)
Sam Nicoresti won the Edinburgh Comedy Award (previously The Perrier) prize in August with her show Baby Doomer, a while after being Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year. Sam evolved in previous shows including Wokeflake into a more mainstream, joyful, joke‑dense, self-depracating stand‑up, bringing big accessible laughs to exploring life as a trans woman. “Fizzing with ideas and great jokes… a unique angle on every topic; simultaneously smart and silly” ★★★★⯪ (Chortle). “Ebullient with a sky‑high joke count” (Guardian)
Shazia Mirza, on Celebrity Apprentice, whose "laconic one-liners represent something quite unique in modern comedy ... she actually manages to make being a Muslim woman seem wonderfully life-enhancingly funny" (Guardian), has been on sold-out ★★★★ tours and international shows. One of The Observer's 50 funniest British comedians, she won Hackney Empire Best New Act, and has appeared on QI, HIGNFY, Would I Lie to You?, SAS: Who Dares Wins, and memorably in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
Joe Bor: Award-winner with years of brilliantly honed observational humour on the circuit, not only did he win 'Old Comedian of the Year' and gain numerous 4 and 5 stars at the Edinburgh Fringe, but also Best Comedy Film at Paris Film Awards and Best Short Film at Hollywood Gold Awards and New York Movie Awards. "Riotously funny" ★★★★ (Fringebiscuit). "With his natural comic ability, Bor makes for a solidly entertaining act" (Chortle)
