ONLINE EVENT – PUBLIC SPEAKING: SOME DISASTERS AND MAYBE EVEN THE ODD SUCCESS

from 7 until 8/8.30pm

Most of us dread public speaking. But at some point we find ourselves forced to make a speech. And we worry: Will my jokes fall flat? What if I freeze? Is it okay to read notes? What if people walk out?

Union Club member John-Paul Flintoff has just published A Modest Book About How To Make An Adequate Speech (Short Books) – and in this online event, exclusively for Union Club members, he shows his bruises and tentatively offers a few tips ahead of the book’s release.

This event (and the book) don’t promise to magically transform you into a fast-talking corporate hotshot; but we hope that they will show you how to think about public speaking in a new way, and with a spot of luck, you will achieve adequacy…

… if not better!

HOW TO ATTEND

Email catherine@unionclub.co.uk to RSVP, and we will send you the Zoom link and password in advance of the event.

The event should last approximately one hour, but we may stretch to 90 minutes max if there’s an appetite for conversation and discussion – no pressure to stick around!
